British-Nigerian boxer and former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua was injured in a serious car crash in Nigeria on Monday that resulted in the deaths of two people, authorities have confirmed.
The incident occurred on the Lagos Ibadan Expressway near Sagamu while Joshua was travelling as a passenger in a Lexus SUV. Early reports from police indicate that the vehicle collided with a stationary truck after a tyre reportedly burst, causing the driver to lose control.
Joshua, 36, sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Video footage and photos circulating online show him being assisted from the wrecked vehicle appearing shaken but conscious.
Tragically, two other passengers in the vehicle were killed in the crash. Emergency responders and police are investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the collision.
The crash occurred just days after Joshua’s recent knockout victory over Jake Paul in Miami, and comes amid ongoing discussions about his next potential bout in 2026.
