St. Catherine, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – The usually quiet compound of Children First, a non-profit youth organisation in Spanish Town, was turned into a crime scene on Sunday night, after the body of a man with gunshot wounds was discovered inside a container on the property.
The deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Orlando Roper, otherwise called “Bike Head”, a labourer of Monk Street, just steps away from where the gruesome discovery was made.
Reports are that residents heard explosions sometime during the night and quickly alerted the police. Upon their arrival at the Monk Street-based compound, officers discovered Roper’s body lying on its back inside a container.
Investigators say he had multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.
Roper was transported to the Spanish Town Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Spanish Town police have since launched a full-scale investigation into the killing, which has shocked both community members and stakeholders in the Children First organisation.
So far, no motive has been established, and no arrests have been made.
