Body Recovered After Pickup Truck Plunges Into River in Lacovia

ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) has confirmed that the body of a deceased occupant was recovered from a pickup truck that plunged into a river in Lacovia, St Elizabeth.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released.

According to a post on the JDF’s official Instagram page on Saturday, the vehicle was successfully retrieved with the assistance of divers from the Jamaica Defence Force Coast Guard.

Reports indicate that the pickup truck ran off the roadway on Friday. However, search and recovery efforts were suspended after nightfall due to poor visibility and safety concerns. Operations resumed on Saturday, leading to the recovery of the vehicle and the deceased occupant.

No further details have been provided regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident. Investigations are ongoing.
