What was supposed to be a casual link-up has ended in death and heartbreak, as the body of 24-year-old Nicholas Lamont Anderson has been found in a remote area near the St. Johns River in Fleming Island, Florida, weeks after he vanished.
Anderson, originally from Atlanta, Georgia, reportedly travelled to Jacksonville, Florida in early April to meet a man he connected with on a dating app. But after that meetup, he was never heard from again.
Shocking Discovery
On May 7, law enforcement made a grim discovery — skeletal remains found in a wooded area near the river. The remains were only confirmed in August to be those of Nicholas Anderson, after weeks of anguish and desperate searching by his family.
Family Wants Answers
Nicholas’ family described him as a bright, creative, and kind young man, and they’re now demanding answers from authorities. His aunt says there were “inconsistencies” in the story told by the person he met in Florida.
His mother expressed frustration that her son’s disappearance wasn’t taken seriously from the beginning. “He didn’t just vanish. Someone knows what happened,” she told reporters.
Investigation Underway
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is now conducting an active investigation into his death. So far, no cause of death has been released, and police have not ruled out foul play.
Authorities are asking the public for information about Nicholas’ movements between April 1 and April 7, 2025, and are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for any credible leads
