Fidel Ferguson, one of five prisoners who escaped from the Barnett Street Police Lock-Up in St. James on Saturday, December 14, has been recaptured.
Ferguson was spotted in the Spot Valley area of the parish, where alert residents quickly notified the police. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered Ferguson with a wound to his leg. He was taken to the hospital for treatment under police guard.
Meanwhile, Edgar Spence, another escapee, was killed during a confrontation with the police in Valley Heights, St. James. Spence was among the group of prisoners who escaped custody on Saturday.
Three other escapees remain at large:
• Tyrese Brown, 22, of Albert Town, Trelawny, who is charged with murder, rape, and other offenses.
• Daniel McIntosh, 23, of Peddlars Lane, St. James, who is charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and other crimes.
• Maurice Belnavis, 43, of Norwood, St. James, who is charged with simple larceny.

The police continue their search and are encouraging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
