The St. James police have arrested and charged a 61-year-old American national who was found in possession of 24 live rounds of ammunition while in the process of boarding a flight out of the country from Montego Bay on Wednesday.
The accused, identified as Terry Lloyd, a salesman from Tennessee in the United States, was arrested and charged with Illegal Possession of Ammunition.
According to reports, around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Lloyd, who had arrived in Jamaica for a one-week vacation, was returning to the USA. While in the process of boarding a flight to Miami from Sangster’s International Airport, irregularities were detected.
The police were called in, and a knapsack Lloyd was carrying was searched, revealing twenty-four hollow-point 9mm cartridges.
The foreign national was taken into custody and subsequently charged. Lloyd told the police that the cartridges were accidentally stored in his knapsack when he was leaving home for his vacation.
