St Elizabeth, Jamaica – A community is in mourning following the tragic death of 69-year-old farmer Overton Simpson, who succumbed to injuries sustained in a hit-and-run incident on Monday evening.
According to reports, Simpson, a resident of Ridge district, was walking along Melsham Road in Junction around 5:45 p.m. when he was struck by a motorcyclist. The rider failed to stop following the collision.
Simpson was rushed to the Black River Hospital, where he later died while undergoing treatment.
The Junction Traffic Department has since launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities are urging anyone with information that could assist in identifying the motorcyclist to come forward.
Residents of the usually quiet community have expressed shock and sadness at Simpson’s death, describing him as a hardworking man known for his dedication to farming and his kind spirit.
