Jamaica News, St James: Fire believed to be the work of arsonists destroyed four houses in Granville, St James on Wednesday afternoon, April 2, 2018.

Reports by the Granville police are that shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, residents living at a section of the Granville community known as Gordon Crescent, alerted the police and Fire Department after they saw fire coming from a concrete and board-structured house.

Upon arrival in the area, the Firemen stated that they found that the house was completely destroyed and the fire had spread to two neighboring houses.

They managed to put out the blaze, but not before the second house was partially destroyed and two other houses also suffered major burning.

Damages are estimated in the regions of over $8 million. The police are saying they believe the fire was a reprisal for a man who was shot and killed in the area several hours earlier.
