Kingston, Jamaica – Residents in St Andrew were jolted from their sleep early Friday morning after a minor earthquake rattled sections of the parish.
According to the Earthquake Unit at the University of the West Indies, the 3.4 magnitude tremor struck at 12:53 am, with the epicentre located approximately 11 km northeast of Harbour View.
The quake had a focal depth of three kilometres and was felt most strongly in areas such as Mavis Bank.
No reports of damage or injuries have been confirmed at this time, but residents described the early-morning shake as “startling.”
