Georgetown, Guyana – Mckoy’s News has learnt that detectives in Georgetown have arrested a 20-year-old orthopaedic technician after an unauthorised video of social media influencer “Lola Doll,” real name Lolita Callender, was leaked online while she was receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Reports are that the suspect, who worked in the hospital’s Orthopaedic Department, admitted to recording the short clip on his cellphone as the popular entertainer was being treated in the Accident and Emergency Unit earlier this week. He reportedly told investigators that he shared the video with an ex-girlfriend via WhatsApp, but denied uploading it to Facebook, where it later went viral.
The police Cybercrime Unit has since seized the young man’s phone for forensic examination. According to senior ranks, charges under Guyana’s Cybercrime Act could follow once the investigation is completed.
Hospital officials have strongly condemned the breach of patient confidentiality. In a statement released Thursday, GPHC said photography or videography in treatment areas is strictly prohibited without written permission from management. The institution pledged full cooperation with law enforcement and promised to strengthen monitoring systems to prevent future incidents.
Meanwhile, fans of Lola Doll have expressed outrage over the invasion of her privacy, with many calling for swift justice. The entertainer is said to be recovering well and has thanked supporters for their concern.
Police continue to probe the matter as the suspect remains in custody assisting with investigations.
