Kingston, Jamaica — Prime Minister Andrew Holness has announced a $2 million reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the murder of 14-year-old Terona “TT” Thomas, who was tragically killed in a drive-by shooting on April 20 in Hill Avenue, St Andrew.
Holness made the announcement on Tuesday while speaking at the commissioning ceremony of the Olympic Way JamaicaEye Monitoring Project at the Olympic Gardens Police Station — a project aimed at expanding surveillance capabilities in high-risk areas.
“This is a painful moment for the community and the country,” Holness said. “Terona’s life was stolen far too soon, and we must send a clear message that those who prey on our children will be brought to justice. I am urging anyone with information to come forward.”
Thomas, a student described by residents as cheerful and bright, was shot along with two men during the late-night attack. She was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead.
Holness, who represents the constituency of West Central St Andrew where the attack occurred, also stated he would request additional funds from Minister of National Security Dr. Horace Chang to further increase the reward pool if necessary.
The Prime Minister’s call for justice comes amid growing frustration over gun violence in inner-city communities. Head of the St Andrew South Police, Senior Superintendent Damion Manderson, reported last week that investigators are pursuing “strong leads” and are hopeful that arrests will be made soon.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police confidentially.
“We must not let Terona’s death go unanswered,” Holness said. “This is not just about crime-fighting — this is about protecting our children and our future.”
