A 13-year-old boy is now in police custody after a deadly altercation in St. Mary on Friday, March 20, 2026.
Law enforcement officials report that the incident occurred in the community of Belfield Works, where a dispute between the teenager and a 21-year-old man escalated into violence. The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed by the authorities.
According to preliminary reports, the confrontation began around 9:45 a.m. and developed into a physical fight. During the altercation, the teen allegedly used a pair of scissors to stab the older man. The injured individual was transported to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators have since taken the minor into custody and recovered the weapon believed to have been used in the attack.
The St. Mary police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing. They are urging anyone with information related to the incident to contact the Port Maria Criminal Investigations Branch at 876-994-2224 or 876-333-9530, or reach out anonymously through Crime Stop at 311.
Authorities also reiterated their commitment to public safety, encouraging citizens to resolve conflicts peacefully and report disputes before they intensify.
