MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Law enforcement officials in Manchester have launched an investigation into the death of a 19-year-old woman in the Manningsfield district, amid suspicions that the incident may be a case of suicide.
The deceased has been identified as Chevanice Williams, a resident of the south Manchester community.
Reports from the police indicate that around 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, a family member found Williams unresponsive at her home. She was rushed to hospital, where medical personnel confirmed her death.
Authorities further noted that a green substance was observed coming from her mouth at the time she was discovered.
Investigators have since commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident, with a post-mortem examination expected to assist in determining the exact cause of death.
Williams had recently been among beneficiaries of a government housing initiative. Approximately one year ago, she expressed gratitude during a presentation ceremony in which her family received the keys to a newly constructed three-bedroom house in Manningsfield under the programme spearheaded by Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness.
