A 12-year-old student of Aabuthnott Gallimore High School is currently receiving treatment in hospital after being injured during an altercation with another student.
The incident reportedly took place on the school compound in St Ann on Wednesday. Information indicates that during the dispute, a 13-year-old student allegedly used a metal chair to strike the boy in the head.
The blow resulted in a head injury that caused bleeding, and the injured student was rushed to hospital, where he remains admitted.
The child’s father has since made a report to the police regarding the matter.
The incident follows another recent case of school violence in the parish, where a 16-year-old student of Ocho Rios High School lost his life after being struck in the head with a chair during a dispute with a schoolmate.
