Kingston, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – $1.4B Disbursed to Secondary Schools:  Secondary School Principals are in receipt of disbursements from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information.

The disbursement; which totaled 1.4 billion dollars, are for the academic year 2017/2018, is the first for four tranches to be paid for the period.

Minister of Education, Youth and Information Senator Ruel Reid disclosed that all PATH and feeding payments, as well as other grants have been made.

The Minister disclosed that the budget has been increased from 75 million to 200 million dollars to procure 35,000 pieces of furniture for teachers and students for the new school year.

Distribution of the furniture is expected to begin before July 31.
