A 20-year-old man lost his life attempting to retrieve a football from a gully during heavy rains, in Havanna, Arnett Gardens, St. Andrew, on Wednesday.
The man has been identified as Alrick Moncrieffe, also known as ‘Kolanji’ or ‘Lala’.
Reports indicate that Moncrieffe was part of a group playing football in the community when the ball went into the gully. As he tried to recover it, he was swept away by the powerful floodwaters.
The island was under a nationwide curfew and enduring the impact of Category 4 Hurricane Beryl when the incident occurred.
