Hurricane Beryl Claims Life of Hanover Resident

Hanover woman killed during Hurricane Beryl: A 26-year-old woman from Hanover, identified as Kayon Sterling, lost her life after being struck by a falling tree limb during Hurricane Beryl.

Richard Thompson, the Acting Director-General at the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management, briefed the media on the incident. He stated, “It has been confirmed by the Ministry of Health that a woman in Westmoreland was killed when a tree fell on her house. This is a deeply unfortunate event, and any loss of life is always one too many.”

According to the Corporate Communications Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, Sterling was outside her home in Green Island, Hanover, when part of a tree struck her around 5 p.m. A family member discovered her body and alerted the authorities. Sterling was transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
