St. James. Jamaica — The police in St. James are actively searching for a man, known only as ‘Yankee,’ who attempted to shoot another man in Catherine Hall on Friday. The suspect is now on the run after being disarmed during the altercation.
Reports indicate that around 5:45 p.m., the victim and his baby mother were sitting in a parked car in Catherine Hall, Montego Bay, when Yankee approached and struck the top of the vehicle with an object.
The victim exited the vehicle to confront Yankee, who then attempted to pull a gun from a bag around his neck. In a swift response, the victim rushed Yankee, and during the struggle, the firearm fell to the ground. The victim quickly picked up the gun, while Yankee fled the scene, leaving his firearm behind.
The illegal firearm, identified as a Glock pistol, was handed over to the police by the victim.
The police have launched a manhunt to apprehend Yankee, who remains at large. Authorities are urging anyone with information on Yankee’s whereabouts to contact the nearest police station, call the police emergency number at 119, or reach out to Crime Stop at 311.
