Jamaica Crime News, Westmoreland: The Westmoreland police say they have now made a breakthrough into the identity of a man, whose burnt body was discovered with gunshot wounds, in bushes at a section of Longwood district, in the parish on Thursday, March 21.
According to the police, personal items and clothing found at the scene have led family members to believe that the body is that of the Shamar Gooden, otherwise called “Don-Don” of McQuarrie Drive in Hopewell, Hanover.
It is reported that Gooden went missing from his community on Wednesday, March 20, and his family members got very concerned. Several attempts were made to contact him by his cellular phone, but they all went unanswered.
A formal report was then made to the Hanover police and about 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, the Westmoreland police received a telephone call informing them that a group of men were seen beating another man, at a section of Longwood district, in the Whithorn policing area.
A team from the station responded and drove to the area. Upon their arrival, they stumbled upon the partially burnt body of the unidentified male, which was seen lying in a bushy area with what appeared to be gunshot wounds to his head.
The scene was processed and the body later removed to the morgue, pending a post-mortem examination.
