The Westmoreland police have launched an investigation surrounding the death of a fire fighter, whose body was fished from a river in the parish on Tuesday, three days after he went missing from his home on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as 57-year-old Carteus McIntosh, of Logwood district and a Corporal attached to the Westmoreland Fire Department.
Reports are that McIntosh was last seen alive at his home on Saturday, and following his disappearance, a missing person’s reports later filed at the Withorne police station.
Residents stumbled upon his motor vehicle which was discovered abandoned in the vicinity of the Roaring River on Tuesday morning, and summoned the police.
On arrival of the lawmen, a body was seen in the river, and the fire department was called in to render assistance in removing the body, which was later discovered to be that of McIntosh.
The body was removed and transported to the morgue for post mortem examination.
