Westmoreland, Jamaica: A man was killed in a tragic motor vehicle accident along the Smithfield Main Road in Westmoreland on Sunday morning.
He has been identified as 40-year-old Gregory Morris of Friendship, Westmoreland.
According to reports, Morris was driving his white 1996 Toyota Carina in an easterly direction when he encountered a section of the road filled with potholes and subsequently lost control of the vehicle.
Eyewitnesses reported that the car veered off the road, hitting a concrete drain on the left side before colliding with an embankment. The impact resulted in Morris sustaining severe head and bodily injuries.
Emergency personnel were called to the scene, and Morris was rushed to the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The Westmoreland police have launched an investigation into the accident. They are urging motorists to exercise caution, particularly on roads with hazardous conditions, to prevent further fatalities.
