Spanish Town, St. Catherine – An investigation is currently underway following the fatal shooting of an electrical technician, Jameel Markland, in Spanish Town on Monday night. Markland, who resided in Dela Vega City, Spanish Town, was shot and killed in a brazen attack that has left the community in shock.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. near the Salt Pond Road stoplight. Markland had just exited a motor vehicle when he was ambushed by a group of gunmen. The assailants opened fire, hitting Markland multiple times across his body before fleeing the scene.
Markland, gravely injured, was rushed to the Spanish Town Hospital by bystanders, but despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
At this time, no motive has been established for the killing, and the circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear. The Spanish Town Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) has taken charge of the investigation, with detectives working to piece together the events leading up to the shooting and identify those responsible.
