SEAFORD TOWN, Westmoreland — A 37-year-old man was found dead at his home in Seaford Town, Westmoreland, on Friday morning in what police are treating as a suspected suicide.
The deceased has been identified as Jermaine Burchell, otherwise called “Tarvy.”
Reports are that Burchell had been experiencing mental health challenges and was living in a makeshift tent in his yard.
He was reportedly last seen alive shortly after 11 p.m. on Thursday.
However, at about 7 a.m. on Friday, a neighbour discovered Burchell hanging from a breadfruit tree in the yard, with a piece of rope around his neck.
The matter was reported to the police, who responded and processed the scene.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding Burchell’s death are ongoing.
