Jamaica News, March 27, 2018 – Western Jamaica Records 17 Road Fatalities
St James, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – A total of 17 road fatalities have been recorded in western Jamaica since the start of the year 2018. Investigators attached to the Area One Traffic Department and the Area One Accident Reconstruction Unit are now urging motorist to be extremely cautious when using the roadways.
The Area One Traffic Department has reported that since the start of 2018, a total of fourteen fatal accidents have taken place around western Jamaica and from that total, seventeen fatalities were recorded.
Our news team also learnt that from the 14 fatal accidents a total of five of those accidents took place in St James and these resulted in seven road fatalities.
Traffic officers in three western parishes of Hanover, Westmoreland and St James have reported that almost all of the road fatalities have taken place due to careless driving and speeding.
The police say they are now urging road users to be vigilant while using the roadways and to cease from speeding.
Also they have indicated that anyone caught in Breach of the Road Traffic Act will be dealt with according to law. The police say are now hell bent on curbing the large amount of road fatalities that have been taking place around western Jamaica.
