SHERWOOD CONTENT, Trelawny — Wellesley Bolt, the father of Jamaican sprint legend Usain Bolt, has passed away following a lengthy illness. He died on Monday, leaving the Bolt family and the wider Jamaican community in mourning.
Wellesley was a familiar face in the stands, often seen alongside his wife, Jennifer, as they supported their son through his remarkable journey to global stardom.
For 15 years up to 2017, Wellesley operated a shop in Sherwood Content, Trelawny — the same rural community where Usain Bolt grew up and began his journey to becoming the fastest man in the world. Before running the shop, he worked at the Coffee Board for 16 years.
Known for his humble and supportive nature, Wellesley played an instrumental role in nurturing Usain’s talent from a young age, standing by him through countless triumphs and challenges.
