St Andrew South police have launched a full-scale probe into Sunday’s gun attack that claimed the life of 49-year-old veteran jockey Oneil Ricardo Mullings, who rode at Caymanas Park in St Catherine.
Reports are that about midday, Mullings was standing along Thompson View Avenue, Kingston 11 — the community where he lived — when he was approached by a man armed with a gun. The assailant opened fire, hitting him in the head.
Lawmen say Mullings had a dispute earlier in the day with two brothers, who have since been identified as suspects in the case. Officers assisted Mullings to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators are appealing to anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects to contact the Hunts Bay Police at 876-923-7111, Crime Stop at 311, the JCF Tip Line at 811, or the nearest police station.
Detectives from St Andrew South continue their investigations.
