US rapper Sean Kingston has been detained at the Broward County Main Jail on nine counts related to fraud and theft.
Kingston was brought to Florida from California and booked on Sunday. The Broward Sheriff’s Office’s online records indicate his bond is set at $100,000.
The charges stem from allegations that Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, defrauded businesses and banks out of thousands of dollars worth of furniture and jewelry. Kingston was taken into custody on May 23, while his mother, who faced similar charges, was released last Tuesday after posting a $160,000 bond.
Kingston is facing multiple charges including obtaining property over $50,000 by fraud, three counts of fraudulent use of another person’s identification without consent (over $50,000), grand theft between $20,000 and $100,000, fraudulent use of a check with insufficient funds over $150, and two counts of grand theft over $100,000.
