The United States Embassy in Kingston is reminding visa applicants to fully disclose their social media activity when applying for entry to the United States.
In a recent advisory, the embassy warned that applicants must include all social media usernames and handles used within the last five years on their DS-160 visa application form.
Applicants are also required to certify that all information provided is accurate before signing and submitting their forms.
The embassy noted that failure to provide complete and truthful information could affect the outcome of a visa application.
This latest notice is part of a series of advisories issued in recent weeks aimed at guiding Jamaican applicants through the visa process.
Among the warnings, the embassy has cautioned individuals against travelling to the United States with the intention of giving birth, working while on a tourist visa, or overstaying their authorised period.
In March, Vice Consul Caroline Lupe ting also encouraged Jamaicans to purchase travel insurance before visiting the United States.
She made the recommendation while speaking on Nationwide’s Consumer Hour with host Nora Gaye Banton.
