St James, Jamaica — A second man has died as a result of injuries sustained in Friday evening’s deadly drive-by shooting on Hart Street in Montego Bay.
The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old security guard Malik McDonald of a Hart Street address. His death follows that of 29-year-old Exodus Dunkley, a resident of Flagstaff in the parish, who was pronounced dead shortly after the incident.
Reports are that both men were among a group gathered at the intersection of Hart Street and Corinaldi Avenue around 7 p.m., when a silver Toyota Axio motor car approached. Armed men exited the vehicle, opened fire with high-powered rifles, then escaped in the waiting car.
When the gunfire ended, seven individuals were found suffering from gunshot wounds. They were transported to hospital, where Dunkley was pronounced dead. McDonald, who was admitted in serious condition, succumbed to his injuries hours later.
Police say they are pursuing several leads and are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
In a separate incident later that night, police were called to Barrett Town, where two men were shot. One man has since died, and the other remains hospitalized. Authorities have not confirmed if the two incidents are connected.
