A police constable on duty lost his life after being struck by a motorist on Edward Seaga Highway. The incident unfolded in the vicinity of Unity Valley, sometime after midnight.
The constable, a member of the Highway Safety and Patrol Division, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on Thursday afternoon.
Reports are that, the officer signaled a motorist to stop, but tragically, he was mowed down in the process.
Following the incident, the injured constable was swiftly transported to the hospital, where he was admitted for treatment. Despite medical efforts, the officer could not overcome the severity of his injuries, leading to his untimely death.
Authorities have confirmed that the motorist involved in the incident is now in custody.
