St. James, Jamaica — Clint Martin, a 35-year-old veterinarian from Tennessee, pleaded guilty to charges of unauthorized possession of a firearm and ammunition after a magazine containing 12 rounds was found in his luggage at Sangster International Airport in St. James.
The case, originally heard in the Western Regional Gun Court, was transferred to the St. James Parish Court, where Martin entered his guilty plea. He was fined $500,000 for each charge — unauthorized possession of a firearm and unauthorized possession of ammunition — or six months’ imprisonment if the fines are not paid.
Martin was arrested on October 3 after the discovery of the ammunition in his luggage. He was granted bail six days later. His legal team, consisting of attorneys Charles Gang-Singh and Henry McCurdy, argued for leniency during today’s proceedings. Following the payment of the fines, Martin was allowed to leave the island.
