Latest Jamaica News, St James (McKoy’s News): The St James Police have beefed up security presence in the community of Catadupa, following the shooting death of two men hours apart in the community on Sunday, September 1, and Monday morning, September 2.
The two victims have been identified as 28-year-old Conrod Lawrence, otherwise called “40”, and Lewis Woodburn, both farmers of Belfont community were gunned down in their community, Catadupa, on Saturday,
Reports are that about 10:00 p.m., on Saturday, Lawrence was driving a Voxy bus towards the directions of his home in Belfont, when he was ambushed and shot by armed men lurking at his gate.
Lawrence managed to drive away from the scene, and the bus ran off the road and crashed into a neighbour’s yard. The injured man ran from the bus and collapsed a distance from the crash.
The police were informed of the shooting but upon reaching the location, a search was carried out for the injured man which proved futile. His body was discovered about 7:00 a.m. by residents on Sunday.
Then about 9:00 a.m. on Monday, tragedy struck again in the same district while Lewis was walking along a section of Belfont main road.
Reports are that he was ambushed and shot by armed men, who escaped in the area on foot.
The police were summoned and upon their arrival, Lewis was discovered suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
