Two Men Arrested in Connection with Seizure of Assault Rifle in Salt Spring, St James

Jamaica Crime News, St James: The Freeport police in Montego Bay, St James, have confirmed that, two men were arrested in connection with the seizure of an assault rifle and several rounds of ammunition, in Salt Spring,  St James on Tuesday afternoon.

The names of both accused are being withheld pending further investigations.

Reports by the Montego Hills police are that about 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, a joint military team carried out an operation at a section of Salt Spring community, known as Go Peace Lane.

During the operation, a premises was searched and the M-15 Assault rifle along with two magazines and  57  rounds of ammunition were seized.

Following the seizure,  an investigation was carried out which led to the arrest of the two accused.

Since the start of the year, a total of 54 illegal firearms have been seized by the police in the parish of St James.
