TRELAWNY, Jamaica — Tragedy struck along the Braco main road in Trelawny on Good Friday when a multi-vehicle collision claimed the lives of two men.
According to reports, around 7:30 PM, a tractor-trailer collided with a Suzuki Baleno, triggering a chain reaction. Following the initial impact, the trailer reportedly veered off the road — at which point it came into contact with a group of four individuals riding All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs).
One of the ATV riders died at the scene. The remaining three were rushed to hospital by passersby for emergency treatment. Sadly, one of those individuals later died while receiving medical care, raising the total number of fatalities to two.
Emergency responders, including police and fire services, were dispatched to the scene.
While the drivers of the tractor-trailer and the Suzuki Baleno escaped unharmed, several passengers riding on the back of the trailer sustained injuries. Two of those injured later succumbed to their injuries, adding to the overall death toll from the collision.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
