TRELAWNY, Jamaica — A Trelawny higgler lost his life in a tragic crash Thursday afternoon after the motorcycle he was riding slammed into a parked truck along a section of the North Coast Highway.
The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old David Junior Myers, otherwise called “Junior,” of Zion district in the parish.
According to reports, the incident unfolded around 5:30 p.m. Myers was travelling along the Hague roadway on a Champion motorcycle when he reportedly lost control of the bike. The motorcycle drifted off its path and collided violently with a Ford Ranger motor truck that was parked along the roadside.
Residents who heard the impact rushed to the scene and alerted the authorities. Myers sustained multiple serious injuries and was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
His passing pushes the number of road fatalities in Trelawny to 20 since the start of the year, adding to what police have described as a troubling trend of fatal crashes across the parish.
The Trelawny police have since launched a full investigation into the incident as they work to determine the circumstances that led to the deadly collision
