St. James, Jamaica: A bird-hunting expedition in the Barret Hall area of St. James ended in tragedy on Saturday morning, when a man was accidentally shot and killed by a hunter.
The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Antonio Marlon Davis, also known as “Nash,” a woodcarver from Trelawny.
Reports are that around 6:00 AM, Nash was among a group of licensed firearm holders who went to hunt birds in the rural area.
It is reported that one of the hunters who was armed with a 12-gauge shotgun, slipped while preparing to shoot at a flock of birds. The shotgun accidentally discharged, striking Nash under his right armpit.
Nash was quickly rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident, which is currently being treated as an accidental shooting.
