The police in St Ann are investigating the tragic death of a one-year-old girl, identified as Aliyah Michael, who reportedly drowned in a tub of water at her home in Golden Grove district on Tuesday.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. It is alleged that the child’s stepfather left her unattended in the tub, where she was later discovered unresponsive.
Family members rushed the infant to the St Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital; however, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The Claremont police have launched a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. No charges have been filed as of yet, and authorities are continuing their inquiries to determine whether negligence or foul play may have been involved.
