World Under-20 100-metre champion Tina Clayton of Edwin Allen held off a brilliant run from Hydel High’s Brianna Lyston, who ran a stunning 11.14 at Central Champs to take the Class One Girls’ 100m title at the ISSA/GraceKenndy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium on Wednesday, April 6.
Clayton won in 11.23 seconds (-2.8/s) after Lyston, led up to 80m, was caught on the line and had to settle for second in 11.26 seconds. Sister Tia was a bit back in third, registering 11.47 seconds.
In the boys’ equivalent, Edwin Allen’s Bryan Levell, who trailed for most of the race, nipped KC’s Jeevan Newby on the line, 10.25 to 10.26 seconds. Herbert Morrison’s DeAndre Daley took the bronze in 10.33.
