Puerto Rico – Team Jamaica wrapped up the three-day 37th Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championship (CAJGC) at the Grand Reserve Golf Club, Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, on Thursday with three trophies: one gold and two bronze. The team placed fourth overall.
Co-captain Mattea Issa claimed her first gold medal at the championship, after years of being runner-up in every age-group category she competed in. Her historic win came in her final year as a junior, competing in the Girls 18 & Under division. Issa shot three-over-par 75 in the final round to finish with a combined total of 16-over-par 231 (83, 73, 75), earning her the coveted Peter Hale Trophy.
In the Boys 18 & Under category, Kingston Burke brought home a bronze medal, finishing with a total score of 237 (83, 77, 77).

The other bronze medal went to Alessandra Coe in the Girls 13 & Under division. Making her final appearance in the category, Coe delivered consistent rounds of 85, 80, and 81 for a total of 246, earning her first-ever CAJGC trophy after three attempts.
She was joined in the category by Francesca Black, who finished fifth with a total score of 263.
In the Girls 15 & Under category, Mallaina Williams placed seventh with rounds of 86, 86, and 84.
On the boys’ side, Kemari Morris delivered the best performance by a Jamaican male with a fourth-place finish in the Boys 15 & Under category. He posted scores of 74, 80, and 78 for a combined total of 232.
Cameron Coe, also competing in the Boys 15 & Under division, ended in 15th place with a score of 266.
In the Boys 13 & Under category, Shasa Redlefsen placed seventh with a solid total of 241 (83, 79, 79).
Co-captain Ryan Lue, competing in the Boys 18 & Under division, posted Jamaica’s best individual round with an even-par 72 in the opening round, placing second at that point. However, he ultimately tied for 14th place, finishing with a total score of 240.
