St Andrew, Jamaica — The heavens opened in praise at the National Indoor Sports Centre on Sunday night as Raheim Betty was crowned the 2025 Jamaica Gospel Star, following a night of powerful worship, musical excellence, and spiritual fire.
Betty brought the audience to their feet—and many to tears—with a soul-shaking rendition of “I Must Tell Jesus”, which sealed his place at the top among the four finalists. The atmosphere was electric, with the crowd worshipping freely in response to his anointed performance.
For his win, Betty walked away with the grand prize of $1 million, courtesy of the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), along with Sagicor gift vouchers, and gift packages from HEART/NSTA Trust and JPS. He also earned the opportunity to record a single and music video, sponsored by Shemar Grant Productions.
Coming in second place was the talented Joraine Welsh, who delivered a captivating performance that earned her $500,000 in cash, along with a Sagicor gift voucher and more gifts from JPS and HEART/NSTA.
Third place went to Donielle Anderson, who took home $250,000, a Sagicor gift voucher, and gift packages courtesy of JPS and HEART/NSTA.
A special moment of the night came when the Spirit of Praise Award was presented to Shushana Levy, recognized for her joyful energy, positive spirit, and unwavering encouragement throughout the competition. She received $30,000 in cash and a commemorative plaque, sponsored by Allowed to Shine Ministries and Perpetual Sounds of Praise.
Now in its latest edition, the Jamaica Gospel Star competition continues to shine as one of the country’s premier platforms for gospel talent, celebrating faith, musical artistry, and cultural expression.
