The three men charged in connection with the murder of 15-year-old Jamila Cole were further remanded when they appeared in the Trelawny Parish Court on Friday.
Presiding Judge Paula Archer-Hall was informed that crucial case files remain incomplete, delaying the proceedings. The judge ordered the prosecution to finalize the documents within a week.
The accused, Tyrese Brown of Freemans Hall, and Timoy Brown and Jabeon Brock, both of Albert Town, continue to await further developments in the case. Attorney Shelly Hyman, who represents Timoy Brown, raised concerns about the lack of disclosure, highlighting that DNA tests had been conducted on seven men, including the accused, but none of the results linked the three to the crime scene.
“The reports in the news named the accused. Yet there was no follow-up release to the news that seven men had DNA tests done. The results have not shown any evidence that any of these three men were present at the murder scene,” Hyman argued.
The men have been ordered to return to court on November 20.
Jamila Cole, a student of Troy High School, was murdered in her home in Cotton Tree District on August 6, 2023. In the same early morning attack, her mother, Shanice Anderson, and cousin, Kayla Dawson, were also brutally beaten.
The case has drawn widespread attention as the community mourns and calls for justice.
