TRELAWNY, Jamaica — A tragic motor vehicle collision on the Greenside main road in Trelawny on Friday morning has claimed the lives of three people, including a 14-year-old female student.
The deceased have been identified as 31-year-old cabinet maker Hoydean Flemmings, 21-year-old Brandon Gordon, and 14-year-old Tashanti Jones, all from Salt Marsh in the parish.
The crash occurred around 10:30 a.m. when a Toyota Wish motor car, traveling behind a Suzuki Grand Vitara, attempted to overtake a line of traffic. As the Suzuki was turning off to a car wash, the Toyota Wish collided with the right side of the vehicle.
The impact caused the driver of the Toyota Wish to lose control, sending the car off the road and into a ditch before crashing into a concrete wall. Flemmings and Gordon, both occupants of the Toyota Wish, died at the scene. Jones, a student, was rushed to Falmouth Public General Hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.
The lone occupant of the Suzuki Grand Vitara was also taken to the hospital for treatment.
The Falmouth police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
