Jamaica Crime News, Kingston: The Hunts Bay Police have now confirmed that the 15-year-old boy who was being questioned in connection with the accidental shooting death of a 15-year-old student in Kingston on Saturday, June 30, has now been officially charged.
The 15-year-old accused has now been charged with Manslaughter and Illegal Possession of Firearm and Ammunition in connection with the death of Olivia Gonzales of Kiwi Pathway in Seaview Gardens.
Reports are that about 9:05 p.m., 15-year-old Olivia who attends the Tennant High School in Kingston was among a group of other teenagers playing with an illegal firearm on a pathway in close proximity to her house.
It is further alleged that while playing with the illegal weapon, it accidentally went off hitting Olivia to her upper body. An alarm was raised and the police were summoned. Upon arrival, the wounded teenager was transported to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The Hunts Bay Police immediately carried out an intensive investigation which led to the arrest of the 15-year-old boy.
