Jamaica Crime News: One man was shot and killed and another shot and injured during a controversial shooting which occurred along a section of the Point main road in Lucea, Hanover on Friday afternoon of July 6th.
Dead is Nicko Campbell, otherwise called (Fat man), self-employed of Old Road also in Lucea Hanover. Another man who was also travelling in the motorcycle with the deceased was also shot and injured and is presently at hospital in serious but stable condition.
Reports by the Lucea Police are that, about 1:30 pm on Friday, Campbell and the other man were travelling on a motorcycle from the directions of Sandy Bay towards Lucea. On reaching a section of the Point main road in the vicinity of the Fiesta Resort, a motor vehicle drove up to them and men travelling in the car brandished handguns.
The men opened fire on Campbell, and his pillion, shooting them to their upper bodies. Both men crashed to the roadway while the motor vehicle sped away.
The police were summoned and upon arrival the wounded men were transported to the Noel Holmes Hospital in Lucea where Campbell was pronounced dead and the other man admitted in serious condition.
In the meanwhile, Annett Calvin, mother of the dead man, told our news team that she has doubts as to how her son was really killed. The grieving mother further stated that a team of police visited her home on two occasions on Friday, looking for Nicko, and following the shooting she was informed that he was shot to death by police men in plain clothes.
