Jamaica News, Westmoreland: A 32-year-old motorcycle taxi operator lost his life following his involvement in a freak accident which occurred along a section of the Namprell main road in Westmoreland on Friday morning.
He has been identified as Revando Brown, otherwise called “Neo “of a Rocky Hill address in Sheffield, Westmoreland. The girlfriend of the deceased, who was also injured in the freak accident, also sustained injuries and has since been admitted to hospital in serious condition. The Negril Police have reported that, shortly after 8:00 am, on Friday, Brown was transporting his girlfriend from their home in Rocky Hill to her workplace in Negril.
On reaching a section of the roadway they came upon a truck which was travelling in the said direction. It is further reported that the truck got entangled in the JPS electricity wire and tore down a light pole. The electrical wires snapped and knocked Brown and his girlfriend from the motorcycle unto the roadway. The driver of the truck immediately started to reverse in a bid to escape the entangled electricity wire and accidentally ran over Brown.
Brown and his girlfriend sustained severe injuries from the electrical wire, while Brown also sustained additional injuries from the truck. They were both transported to the Savanna-la-Mar Hospital, by ambulance, where Brown was pronounced dead and his girlfriend admitted in serious condition.
