Teen Visiting from Overseas Chopped to Death in St Thomas

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Senior police investigators are now on the scene in Prospect, St Thomas, where the teenage daughter of a Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) officer was allegedly chopped to death by a man believed to be of unsound mind on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Teyanna Sutherland, approximately 14 years old. Reports indicate that she had only recently arrived on the island for her summer vacation.

According to residents, a man — described as acting erratically — was seen fleeing the area wearing blood-soaked clothing shortly after the incident. A search led to the discovery of Teyanna’s body lying in a pool of blood.

She was rushed to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police investigators are still processing the scene and collecting statements as they work to determine the motive behind the brutal killing.
