ORACABESSA, St Mary — Four people, including a 15-year-old boy and his mother, are now in police custody as investigators probe the murder of 46-year-old delivery driver Arthneil “Neil” Saunders in Tank Lane, Oracabessa, on Tuesday night.
According to police reports, Saunders had just returned home around 11:00 p.m. and was exiting his black Toyota Mark X when he was ambushed by armed men. The attackers opened fire, hitting him in the upper body and damaging his vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Residents alerted the police, who arrived to find Saunders lying on the ground. He was rushed to the Port Maria Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators have since detained four individuals in connection with the killing, including the teenage boy and his mother. However, authorities have not yet determined a motive for the attack.
The shocking incident has left the Oracabessa community in mourning. Residents described Saunders as a well-liked and hardworking individual. “Boy, it hurt me and shake me up badly as the youth was a good youth and everybody love him. Him not known as a wrongdoer, hardworking man,” one community member shared.
The St Mary Criminal Investigation Bureau continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the murder. Anyone with information is urged to contact the police.
