St. Catherine, Jamaica — Police have launched an investigation following the suspected drowning of a 14-year-old boy in the Rio Cobre at Gordon Pen on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Raheim Greenfield, according to law enforcement officials.
Reports indicate that around 2:30 p.m., the teenager entered the river to swim when he reportedly encountered difficulties and failed to resurface. An emergency response was initiated, and his body was later retrieved from the water.
Greenfield was transported to the Spanish Town Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him dead.
