ST JAMES, Jamaica—A 15-year-old boy from Tenement, Granville, St James, has been charged with house-breaking and larceny after an incident that occurred in his community between Sunday, September 8, and Thursday, September 12.
According to police reports, on Thursday, September 12, a resident returned home to find that his house had been broken into. The culprit(s) reportedly pried open a bedroom window and gained entry. Upon inspection, the homeowner discovered that his metal safe had been tampered with, and a Remington shotgun, valued at J$85,000, was missing.
The incident was reported to the police, and a subsequent operation on Friday, September 13, in Tenement led to the recovery of the stolen firearm in a nearby vegetated area.
The following day, Saturday, September 14, the 15-year-old suspect was turned over to the authorities by his mother. He has since been charged with house-breaking and larceny.
A court date for the teen is being finalized as investigations continue.
