San Francisco, California – Nima Momeni, a fellow tech executive, was found guilty of murdering Cash App founder Bob Lee on Tuesday.
Prosecutors argued that Momeni stabbed Lee three times with a kitchen knife after driving him to a secluded area in April 2023. Momeni had pleaded not guilty, claiming self-defense.
Lee, a prominent figure in the cryptocurrency world, was fatally stabbed in the early morning hours of April 4th in the Rincon Hill neighborhood of San Francisco.
Security footage showed Lee and Momeni leaving Lee’s hotel and entering Momeni’s car. The vehicle then drove to a secluded location where the stabbing occurred.
Prosecutors alleged that the murder was motivated by Lee’s alleged sexual assault of Momeni’s sister. However, Momeni testified that he acted in self-defense after Lee attacked him following a heated exchange.
The jury ultimately rejected Momeni’s self-defense claim and found him guilty of murder.
